Artwork from the exhibition : Mysterious India, season II
A resident of New Delhi for the past 6 years, Marion Colomer transcribes in her works the wealth and mystery of modern Indian culture. Her work is founded on painting portraits of people she met, which are for her symbols of the rich evolving culture : an Indian philosophers, poets, artists, young designers, glitteratis and former maharajas. In a second time, to keep the present atmosphere intact and immerse us in the heart of the Orient, Marion Colomer illustrates these portraits using embroidery directly on the canvas and over the paint. This technique, developed in collaboration with Indian craftsmen, will attempt through the researche of shapes, fabrics, and objects to describe the universe of the characters portrayed. Through the abstract, invisible auras then appear around these characters, bringing us closer to the mysteries of India. This journey has brought this young French artist to paint portraits of the greatest Indian actors and directors, and to become one of the favorite artists of Bollywood.
